There has been a new study that suggests great benefits for college students have been vaccinated with the influenza virus. Granted, there seemed to be some statistical problems with the study (Read the article for more details), but it would be a no brainer to be vaccinated against a contagious virus, especially if you live in a close environment like a dorm. I have seen many friends get sick with flu during the most critical moments, such as finals week. The problem with college students not being vaccinated is not because there is a shortage of vaccines or the vaccinating health clinics are unreachable; no, it’s just the classical college student procrastination that drives students to put off vaccination before it’s too late. Sure, most flu vaccinations cost around $20, but college students should see this as an almost guaranteed investment in the future. They probably won’t get the flu for this season, and thus they won’t have to spend money on medicine to suppress flu symptoms when they get sick. Unfortunately, captain obvious can’t fight against the lazy college procrastination. Only sound judgment in each of us can prevent the flu from coming this season. Now, let’s get started with the final exam preparation… |

The Writer's Path: I borrowed a book called "The Writer's Path: A Guidebook For Your Creative Journey" by Todd Walton and Mindy Toomay. I was looking for a writing exercise companion, and at first glance this book seems to have a good amount of material to improve my writing. I am going to post some of my writings from the book's exercise here at Day Mind XPression. Battlestar Galactica: I watched the first three hours of the first season of Battlestar Galactica, and I am quite impressed. The special effects are quite good, and the storyline is especially superb in my opinion. I am going to rent the rest of season one, so I can watch it during the weekend. CrankyGeeks: Episode 116 had one of the most funniest moments in CrankyGeeks' history. Twitter Down: Twitter seems to have some technical issues during this week. I have not been able to connect to Twitter on various occasions. |

Movie Weekend: My friends and I watched the newest movie in "The Chronicles of Narnia" series "Prince of Caspian". I am guilty of not reading the book, but I just could not wait to see it after watching the first movie a few days ago. I highly recommend everyone to check out the movie this weekend, because I also want this movie to beat both "Speed Racer" and "Iron Man" (A very good movie to watch) by a wide margin. Go C.S. Lewis! New Utility: I am trying out a new clipboard utility called Ditto. So far it has been pretty useful and light on the computer memory. Twitter: I am on Twitter. Follow me if you wish! Current Thoughts: This is a new writing section for Day Mind XPression. Unlike my Gathered Thoughts posts, Current Thoughts have writings that represents my worldly experience on the fly. "Short Notes" is a category under Current Thoughts, and the new category will house articles that are short and concise. The upcoming "Short Notes" articles will have a similar format like the one you are reading right now. It is still experimental, but so far I am very comfortable writing in this new format. Sleep Schedule: I am trying to fix my current college driven sleep schedule to a more sane level. So far, I have been able to sleep before 11 o'clock. |
